Now that the record labels are starting to drop DRM, major retailers like Amazon are announcing their plans to distribute music unencumbered by DRM. This is a huge victory!
MP3 and AAC are currently the favored formats for music distribution. But in the USA they are both encumbered by Software Patents. Since it is the music fan who ends up paying the costs of these patents - now is the time to encourage retailers to switch to the Ogg format. Ogg is ethically, legally and technically superior to MP3 and AAC.
PlayOgg.org is a campaign just launched by the Free Software Foundation to encourage users and retailers to switch to the Ogg format.
